My Writing Goals

I am most comfortable writing fictional short stories or creative pieces. I have written short fan fiction stories based on characters from popular TV shows and movies. I have also written my own thoughts in a blog/journal. I have written most of my stuff privately in a journal. I have also uploaded some stuff on various blogs or message boards. I have posted some stuff anonymously and some stuff on my personal blog. Nothing has ever been published or written in exchange for money.

I write to get my feelings out of my head. I love to write, but I do have to say I dread it at times,  as I'm sure most writers do. Overall I enjoy it, as it allows me an outlet to express myself. It is sometimes hard for me to get my thoughts out, so writing has always been a great outlet for me. I am trying to be more expressive and public with my writing and would like feedback to help me improve my skills.

Some areas that I know I need to improve in my writing are to enhance the flow of my transitions, expand and refine my vocabulary, and become a more careful reader for editing. I also want to gain more knowledge and skills for writing and communicating more professionally, for networking as well as to hone my skills and be able to proofread and edit for other people's work.

My short-term goals for writing are to continue to learn more and better my writing abilities while also turning my passion into a career. I would like to start proofreading and editing other people's short documents as freelance work. As I keep growing my skills, I am attending a couple of courses in writing and communications, and by next fall I will hopefully be enrolled into college to pursue a degree.

My long-term writing goals would be to work as a freelance writer doing advertising, blogging, live updates, with a niche in marketing. I would possibly also be interested in doing some editing or ghostwriting. I look forward to seeing where this journey in writing will take me.
