What is that "Bitcoin" you keep hearing about?

You probably keep hearing your friends talk about Bitcoin, but maybe you still aren’t quite sure what it is and don’t want to ask your friend to explain it AGAIN. So let’s try to break it down. Bitcoin is known as a cryptocurrency. These currencies are a virtual form of money that can only be exchanged over the internet. Although the word “coin” is in the name, and the logo is an actual coin itself, there are no physical elements to cryptocurrency, it is all digital. Bitcoin was the first of its kind. It was launched in 2009 by a pseudonymous user who goes under the name Satoshi Nakamoto. It was built on the principles of computer science, cryptography, and a trustless system that would eliminate the need for a central bank.       Satoshi Nakamoto developed Bitcoin to be a secure open-source software that users could exchange money through with anonymity. Instead of a bank to back it up, users control the ledger through a peer-to-peer netwo...

Can A Declining Product Regain Dominance of the Market?

All products to hit the market go through what is referred to as the product life cycle. This life cycle consists of four stages. These stages are introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. The amount of time a product spends in each stage depends on its success on the market. All products will meet an inevitable decline as demands fall, but there are some methods a company can use to increase the life of its product. To better understand these methods, it is first best to understand the life cycle and its stages.         A product's introduction stage is the time of introducing the product to the market. Sales are slow during the introduction stage as the public is just learning about the product and what to expect from it. The goal at this time is to spread the word about the product and attract consumer awareness. Promotion of the product during this phase is vital to its success. Once a product begins to take off it enters the growth st...

The Journey So Far: A Life Update

It has been about one month since I’ve set forth with my writing journey. My first post was at the beginning of October, where I defined my goals and described how I intend to reach them. Within these few weeks, I have been learning so much. I’ve been learning more about writing, marketing, and myself. It has already been quite a journey, and I am just beginning my climb. When I first started out, I knew that it was going to be a learning experience but little did I know how much l still have left to learn. This introduction into my writing career is a mere stepping stone for what is to come. During these first few weeks, I have set up a professional profile on most social media platforms. This is a step towards being able to network with other freelance writers and creators of all sorts. I have proclaimed myself as a freelance writer and editor who offers services proofreading. To gain more experience with editing I have been doing some volunteer work through Distributed Pro...

E-mail Killed the Fax Machine

The days of continuously checking the mail anticipating a letter are long gone. And waiting by your fax machine for a document to come through is a thing of the past! Electronic mail, or E-mail, has drastically changed the way people transfer information both professionally and casually. E-mail allows users to receive messages and documents almost instantly after being sent. With just a few clicks, you can upload various file types onto your e-mail (PDFs, photos, audio files, etc) and after a few minutes, the recipient can view, save, and print the file right from home. It is no surprise that the promptness of transmission and the ability to send large files has made e-mail one of the most used methods of sharing information today.     E-mail has positively impacted how many people communicate: college students use e-mail to chat with their professors about assignments or grades, businesses use e-mail to schedule meetings or discuss ideas wit...
